Kaplan Apprenticeship Advisory Panel

I studied Accounting and Finance at university before joining the apprenticeship scheme with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. I’ve really enjoyed my time at Kaplan so far, and have been able to develop my knowledge in the field I want to pursue, but also acquire new skills to benefit me both professionally and personally, and I am looking forward to continuing my journey as an apprentice.

I am excited to join KAAP as it gives me the opportunity to provide a voice for all apprentices, especially those from a neurodiverse and ethnic minority background. I would love to provide insight to how my journey has been so far, and how best to navigate this apprenticeship programme, as well as provide essential feedback to improve the confidence and support for all students and help deliver the most valuable and fulfilling experience for all apprentices.

I am currently in a rotational scheme, where I have worked in three different industries, in three different cities, and three different finance roles! I am a huge advocate for apprenticeships, I believe they are a head start for your career and I have found it to be a rewarding and challenging route.

I have had so much fantastic support from the team at Kaplan and from my fellow apprentices, so I want to help to support you in your own journey. My ambition is to get the best out of KAAP by bringing your voice to the forefront and I'm excited to see what we can achieve.

I joined the KAAP as I was eager to provide insight from a neurodiversity perspective. Having been on my own neurodiverse journey whilst on the apprenticeship, it provided an opportunity to feedback on elements of the programme in real time, and to see the course improve and develop for the future. This has been a valuable experience not only to provide representation for fellow apprentices, but to personally see growth in my skills along the way. A key highlight for me so far in the apprenticeship was being a panelist in a learning conference, something I had never seen myself participating in. The apprenticeship gave me the confidence and support to succeed, and to continue on the path of advocating for myself and others to deliver an extremely rewarding experience for all apprentices.

As a first-time apprentice with no prior background in my role, I have embarked on a journey of learning and growth that has been rewarding. So far, I have enjoyed my time as an apprentice, and I have met amazing individuals who have supported and guided me. I decided to join KAAP because, it gives me the opportunity to be the voice for my fellow apprentices and advocate for resources and materials that will help enhance their career development journey. I am thrilled to play a role in shaping the future of KAAP and widening my network

I was thrilled to become a part of KAAP, as it presented an opportunity for me to advocate for apprentices coming from diverse backgrounds. It also provides a platform to engage with individuals beyond my organisation, with the hope of enhancing the overall apprenticeship experience.

My experience with Kaplan has been extremely positive as I have been able to acquire valuable knowledge that not only enhances my current role but also develops skills outside my professional sphere.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business with Accounting which I had obtained prior to enrolling onto a level 7 apprenticeship programme, this was also as the same time as I was unsure to the options I had available to me in respect to the career path I wanted to choose. For instance, I was ignorant to the fact that such apprenticeship existed in the first place!

I am passionate about continuous improvement, personal development, sharing best and above all, learning. I believe that the day one stops learning is the day they start decaying, which is why I want to be an advocate of the programmes Kaplan offers learners but also through my participation as a Kaplan Apprenticeship Advisory Panel member improve and enhance experience for all stakeholders as much as I possibly can.

I’m a brand new apprentice at the age of 39! Whilst I am new to the apprenticeship world- specifically Data Analysis- I hope my years of experience within NHS recruitment will enable my to provide a different perspective on the Apprenticeship process.

As well as providing my own feedback, I’m also keen to hear and learn from other current and former apprentices.

The best part about my apprenticeship....perfect excuse to spend my time playing around with data and spending more time thinking about chart colours than is acceptable in civilised society.

I have always been a massive advocate of apprenticeships, especially in the finance sector so a position on the KAAP really suited me at this stage of my career. I am keen to display the benefits of the programme to current Kaplan members and would like to create a community for the next generation of finance professionals whilst having a substantial impact in bettering the experience for the students of tomorrow.

Kaplan has played a pivotal role in my career so far and I would love to use the platform to network with like-minded individuals and grow together as we move into the next stage of our professional development.
